Content Associate Program

The Content Associate Program is a premiere program that identifies and develops the next generation of Production leaders at ESPN. The program is intended to grow participants’ production skills and knowledge and provide a foundation to progress throughout the organization. Participants are hired into an entry-level Production Assistant (PA) role, and have up to two years to earn a promotion to Content Associate (CA). The program is intended to provide a clear career path and structured learning and development opportunities for ESPN’s future leaders.

Duties include:

  • Supporting the production of live or taped studio shows and events.
  • Creating the highlights and video elements you see on ESPN’s networks every day.
  • Writing and communicating ideas for future content elements on ESPN platforms.
  • Assisting in location productions and performing crew functions, if needed.
  • Supporting ESPN’s various international networks.

We’re looking for:

  • Elite-level sports knowledge; solid knowledge of at least one international sport preferred (soccer, cricket, etc.).
  • Demonstrated communication, organization, and leadership skill.
  • High level of familiarity with ESPN programming, platforms, and studio shows.
  • For some positions, fluency in Spanish and knowledge of multiple cultures is necessary.

Things to consider:

ESPN offers a competitive salary and benefits package. With very few exceptions, positions are located in Bristol, Ct. PAs and CAs often work weekends and holidays, and are eligible for overtime. PAs and CAs are expected to perform under tight deadlines, and to react quickly and positively under a wide variety of production situations. Many of our current production leaders at ESPN started out in an entry-level Production Assistant role.

Production Operations Associate Program

The Production Operations Associate Program is designed to provide growth and development opportunities for entry level employees; and in doing so create a workforce with a diverse skill set positioned to better serve immediate and long term business needs. Program participants will learn multiple skill sets and technologies through participating in three eight month rotations. Each rotation provides the opportunity to learn skills specific to different operational areas within Production operations. In addition, participants will take part in formal training to develop their skills at effectively working in a professional environment.

Duties may include:

  • Functioning as a Master Control Operator.
  • Non-linear editing of content for live or taped studio shows and events.
  • Operating a Studio camera during live broadcasts and taped segments.
  • Assisting with audio related responsibilities.
  • Monitoring clips for quality control and playback for air during all productions.
  • Server based ingesting and quality control of Program and Commercial media.

  • Individuals who are passionate about all aspects of behind the scenes television production.
  • Team players who are willing to commit to the common goal of serving the sports fan.
  • Demonstrated communication, organization and leadership skills.
  • Flexibility in scheduling as shifts range around the clock due to the 24/7 nature of the business.

ESPN offers a competitive salary and benefits package. Positions are located in Bristol, Connecticut. Associate Operators often work weekends, late night or early morning hours and holidays, and are eligible for overtime. Associate Operators are expected to perform under tight deadlines and to react quickly and positively under a wide variety of production situations.
