Production Assistant (PA) Trainee Program

Our PA Trainee Program is a seven month training program based in the heart of ESPN - - Bristol, Connecticut. Trainee opportunities exist in both our Studio and Event Production departments.  Studio Production Trainees work on studio shows and studio based programming, such as SportsCenter and ESPNEWS. Event Production Trainees are assigned to various sport categories such as College Football, X-Games and the NBA. The PA Trainee Program is an exclusive opportunity that is worth a lifetime of personal and professional experience.


Typical PA Trainee Job Responsibilities

* Support production teams for studio and live events

* Screen and clip footage

* Cut highlights for shows and events

* Serve as researchers

* Coordinate graphics information

* Various projects and tasks as assigned by production teams


Typical PA Trainee Qualifications

* Familiar with processes and procedures of a Television Production department

* Prior internship experience in a Television Production department or involvement with campus TV/radio station

* Breadth of sports knowledge

* Strong organizational and multi-tasking skills


PA Program Play by Play

Depending on your assignment, the hours can be late night and include weekends and holidays … essentially whenever sports are on the air!


Each month trainees receive performance feedback. A formal evaluation is completed after five months, with a final evaluation delivered towards the end of the seven month training period. At that time, a decision is made whether or not a trainee will be offered a staff position.
